Eat Shrimp

Eat Shrimp

One of my parents’ favorite summertime foods is shrimp. Since I was thinking of making them some sort of shrimp dish as a combined Mother’s Day/Father’s Day dinner, I started searching for good shrimp recipes.

Not only did I find great shrimp recipes, I found nutritional information, cooking tips and even a kid’s corner on this Web site!

Nutrition & Health – Here you can find some interesting information about shrimp and their nutritional value to your health.

Ask the Dietitians – Here you can find the monthly question asked to the dietitians. While I was there, it was a question about shrimp and cholesterol. There was some nifty information on it, as well as, a chart showing several types of food’s cholesterol and saturated fat counts.

Recipes – Here you will find a wonderful recipe search engine. You choose the meal type, cuisine and cooking type (you can even specify ingredients) and you can then choose between any match or exact match and click Find Shrimp Recipes. If it doesn’t find an exact match, it will still show you the recipes that fall into the categories you selected. And if you’d just rather browse the recipes, click the View All Shrimp Recipes link. This will let you browse all 114 shrimp recipes they have on file here. Very neat!

Cooking Tips – This was something I was definitely looking for, as I have never cooked shrimp before. What I found here was an excellent guide to grilling shrimp, as well as, the tools I might need to do so. I can only hope they will add other tips, like pan-searing, frying and more in the future.

Kid’s Corner – Here you will find kid friendly shrimp recipes, games and activities and even a featured recipe. I know as a child, I certainly didn’t want to eat shrimp, so this gives you access to recipes that might entice your children to eat them.

This site certainly makes eating shrimp much easier with its handy recipes, cooking tips and nutritional information. Well, I’m off to start practicing the meal I chose to make my parents. Enjoy!
