I get the newsletter and love it! I don’t have a need for a program like Windows Office, but I do use Notepad and Wordpad. Are those available in Windows 8? And as long as I’m writing, when will the newer version of Windows 8 be available to consumers?
Thanks!
Glad you like it, our team of writers works hard to answer your questions. I love to be the bearer of good news, Sheila. Both WordPad and Notepad are available in Windows 8.
The quickest way to find either program is to search it in the Charms Bar. You’ll become very familiar with the Charms Bar in Windows 8.
The release date of Windows 8.1 is so far scheduled for “later this year.” But don’t be afraid to get a Windows 8 device now. The update to Windows 8.1 will be free to Windows 8 users.

The Win 8.1 date has not been exactly set, but MS has announced that it will go to RTM in “late August”. Typically products go GA 1 to 2 months later. It may be sooner since this is just an update to Win 8.1, not a full “new version”.
