Where Can I Get A Good Deal On Word?

Jerome from Toledo writes:

My computer crashed and I lost my Word program.  I don’t have the CD to reload it and who knows where my key code is. I’ve tried and don’t like the free office stuff or Google docs. What’s the best deal I can get for  Microsoft Word ? Is there a way to get it on more than one computer? Right now I have my desktop with a new hard drive at home, but I spend weekends at my sister’s house watching her kids. There’s a desktop there as well, but no Word.

Jerome, since I noticed you have a Hotmail e-mail address, I’ve got good news for you. You can use Microsoft’s Office online at Outlook.com absolutely free and you’ve even got free cloud storage space for your documents. That’s especially handy if you’re moving between locations. Go to Outlook.com, log in with your HotMail account and click on OneDrive. Then choose Create and Word Document from the drop-down menu.

This online version of Word works much the same way as Word installed on your computer. You can choose to save your documents to OneDrive or to your computer.

  1. Great tip Cynthia,
I have Hotmail but I didn’t know this feature was on Outlook for free. I have an old version of Microsoft office I use now. Is there a downside to using Word, Excel and PowerPoint On line with Outlook? Thanks for the computer tips.

    1. You do need to have Internet access to use these apps and they aren’t as fully functional as the full version of office. But for everyday spreadsheets and documents, they work pretty well.

  2. Another way to retrieve your office application is to download and run Belarc it will retrieve your Product key. Then just burn an iso of which ever version of office you had. And you are back up and running with MS Office. I just had to do this for my son when he had to re-image his system. I originally bought MS office 2010 with the 3 license bundle, so all 3 systems used the same product key. I ran Belarc on the home computer, got the key, burned the iso image of office 2010 Home & Office to a disk. and he had his laptop back with office within an hour…
