Taylor Swift Takes On Apple And Wins

Singer Taylor Swift lived up to her name by swiftly getting Apple to change its payment policy for artists for the company’s new paid streaming service.  Originally, the company planned not to compensate artists for the music that was played by listeners during the service’s initial free 3-month trial period.

That didn’t sit well with Swift who pulled her best-selling 1989 album from Apple Music saying that while the money earned wouldn’t matter much to her in the scheme of things, that struggling newer artists depend on their royalties and that’s it wasn’t fair to ask anyone to go without a paycheck for three months.

Apple responded quickly saying that they Apple Music would pay artists for streaming during the free trial period and even saying, “We hear you @taylorswift13 and indie artists. Love, Apple.”

  1. At first I was annoyed by these pop-ups. Then I realized I was saving money because when I am interrupted I just leave the site and more often than not, I do not return. Roku’s involvement just gives me the chance to save more money.
