Stereogranimator

The New York Public Library presents Stereogranimator! This web tool allows you to take photos from their archival collection and turn them into wiggle gifs or 3D images. You can also use your own images through Flickr.

When you arrive at the site, you’ll see examples of both of the outputs you can select in your creation. You’ll also find an assortment of the Latest, Popular, and Random images created featured on the main page.

Getting started is pretty easy, just click the red Start Creating button. This will display a selection of photos you can pick from, or you can search the collections, or you can use your own image via Flickr. Once you’ve selected an image, you’ll be ready for step two, where you’ll pick between making an anaglyph or animated gif. Then you’ll use your mouse to move the image into the position you want. Then step three is to share your image!

You can learn more about where their collection comes from here.

This is a really fun way to play with archival images! Go check it out for yourself today!
