Georgian Papers Online

Welcome to Georgian Papers Online! This site hosts the digital collection of materials dating from the reigns of George III to William IV. You’ll find personal letters, diaries, account books, and records from the Royal Household.

I ran across this site while doing research in my Digital Humanities Analytics class this semester, and knew it was such an amazing repository of British history that I had to share it with all of you. I ran across it on the College of William and Mary’s website and followed the links back to the archive here.

When you arrive at the site, I recommend reading the featured text on the main page. It explains how to use the website, how to search the catalog, and where you can find more information about the collection. I also think you should check out the What’s in the catalog? section. It offers you interesting tidbits about where you may have seen this information before like in a documentary, and also highlights special items like menus!

When you’re ready to search, you have two options the Advanced Search on the navigation strip or the Quick Search feature in the top right corner of the page.

This is a great way to delve into documents for yourself and learn about what happened in the past first hand. Go check it out for yourself today!
