Scottish Chapbooks

Welcome to the University of Guelph’s collaboration between the library’s Special Collections and the History Department that focuses on making their collection of Scottish Chapbooks accessible to students and historians.

When you arrive at the site, be sure to read the main page. It offers you insight as to what exactly a chapbook is, what kinds of research and pedagogy are involved, and even features an item from the collection.

After you’ve perused the main page, I recommend checking out both Items and Exhibits from the navigation strip along the top of the page. Items offers you the opportunity to browse the entire digitized collection of Scottish chapbooks that are available on the site. Exhibits allows you to browse curated collections of items from the collection that follow a theme or purpose. For example, a teaching module.

This is a really cool way to explore this historic way of publishing! Go check it out for yourself today!
