Apple introduces 2 new iPhone models

Apples is showing off two brand new models of iPhone, the iPhone 8 and iPhone X.  (Much like Windows 10, we don’t know what happened to 9).

The iPhone 8 comes in two sizes. 5.5″ for the iPhone 8 plus and 4.7″ for iPhone 8

The iPhone 8 offers wireless charging and is both water and dust resistant. Apple also says the stereo speakers are 25% louder than previous models.

There’s a new 64-bit chip called the A 11 bionic that’s up to 70% faster than previous models.  The camera features a new 12 mp sensor that offers better color and a new portrait-lighting feature for better photos.

You can choose between two storage options: 64 GB and 256 GB

The standard iPhone 8 starts at $699 with the Plus starting at $799. The iPhone 8 will be available to order on September 15.

But the company is more excited about the model that it calls the future of the smartphone — the iPhone X (that’s X as in the Roman numeral 10.)

The company called the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone

It’s a very large phone. Closer in size to a small tablet. The 5.8 inch-phone features an edge to edge 2436 by 1125 resolution and a new super Retina Display. Like the iPhone 8, it uses the new A 11 64-bionic chip.

The home button is gone on this model. Users swipe up from bottom to go to their home screen.  For Siri, you can summon by voice or use the side-button.

The iPhone X will use new facial recognition technology to unlock your phone. Just look at the phone to open. They’ve developed a new technology that learns your face and processes it on the device. This same technology can be used to create animated emojis that you control with your face and for paying with Apple Pay.

It features new cameras for front and back. Apple promises that the battery will last two hours longer than the iPhone 7 and it can be charged wirelessly.

The future of the smartphone doesn’t come cheap.  The 64 GB model starts at $999 and the 256 GB model at $1150. The phone is available for pre-order starting Oct. 27th.

These phones sound nice, but as far as being revolutionary, it’s the changes to the Apple Watch that seem more exciting. (It’s actually a phone now!)  I’ll have more on what’s next for the Apple Watch in future articles.
