I’ve heard from a few of you that you aren’t happy with how Microsoft’s Sticky Notes program is working in Windows 10. You aren’t alone, I’ve seen some complaints on various sites with no real solution to the issues. But I do have a free alternative for you to try. It’s called Simple Sticky Notes. It’s available for Windows 7, 8.1, and 10.
You can download it by clicking here.
Be cautious, though. There’s a lot of download buttons for programs on this page and you only want the one at the very top.
Then scroll past those big green download buttons and click Download Now at the bottom of the window.
You’ll be asked if you wish to save or run the program. Choose Run. If you choose to save, you’ll need to go back to your downloads folder later, right-click and run the executable Simple Sticky Notes file.
Then you’ll need to give the app permission to install.
Just follow the instructions from the Setup Wizard.
You’ll be given the option to create a desktop shortcut for the program. Once installed, just click the icon to create a new note. Click the 3-dot icon at the top of your note to get a drop-down menu.
You’ll be able to change the color and opacity of the note. You can also set an alarm and have the note pop-up when you need to be reminded.
You can print notes or share via email, Facebook, or Twitter. You also have options for locking the note and changing the title. You can even create notebooks to store your notes. I found it easy to resize the notes by pulling the corners. The resized note did retain its size and position when I restarted my Windows 10 PC.
Give it a try and let me know what you think.
Thanks, Cyn, for that new Sticky Note! I know I’m going to love the Alarm on there, many times I’ve needed one. Does this New Note replace the old Sticky Note or do I have to find it and delete it?
This is a completely different app. If you’re talking about finding the Microsoft Sticky Notes and deleting, you can’t. That app is a built in part of Windows 10.
Thanks for detailed instructions, especially about the big, green buttons. I’ve been fooled by this before and downloaded malware. Your pictures are always welcome. Even knowing what to look for, I almost got apps I didn’t want.
how to fix the hour in alarm menu?
