Digital Piano Guide

Buying a musical instrument can be a major investment. Knowing just what to look for can save you time and money. I got my first electric keyboard when I was about 7. It was a little brown organ that I learned to plink out Silent Night on. As an adult, I bought a more advanced keyboard that was capable of sampling sounds.

I’ve been thinking of purchasing one in order to create some music for promotional videos I make for my novels. (And by create music, I mean have my talented husband play some public domain tunes.)  I found a really handy guide for selecting a keyboard on a site called Beginner Guitar HQ. As the name implies, this site has a lot of helpful info for beginning guitar players.

This guide to a digital piano is more than just a checklist to take shopping. It explains the science behind digital pianos. (Did you know a piano is actually a percussion instrument?)   You’ll learn why things like the weighting of keys are crucial to a good instrument and how to tell if you’re playing a good keyboard.

I like the way the information is organized.  It’s divided into sections like Pedals and Bluetooth. There’s a paragraph or two of basic information on the topic and then it’s summed up in a sentence or two at the end of each section.

The site also has similar articles on types of guitars, amps, and other musical purchases.
