AT & T has some new scam and spam blocking measures in place. Some are free and others will cost you.
The company is adding free automatic fraud blocking and suspected spam call alerts to millions of phone lines. New lines will automatically come with the service and existing customers will see the features rolled out to their accounts over the next few months.
Mobile users who don’t want to wait can download AT & T Call Protect from the app store for their phone.
The FCC recently ruled that companies can add spam call-blocking tools automatically without requiring users to download an app or choose to opt-in.
If you have a landline, you can also use this service by doing the following:
- Go to your myAT&T account overview.
- Locate the My digital phone section and choose Check or manage voicemail & features.
- Select Phone Features.
- Choose Call Protect.
- Follow the prompts to turn on Call Protect. We’ll send you a confirmation.
While the new service will automatically block suspected fraud calls, if you want to block all spam calls, you’ll need to pay an additional $4 a month to send all suspected spam calls to your voicemail or manually add those numbers to your blocked callers list.
