Your smartphone has a lot of neat tricks up its sleeve. You probably know it can make calls, send texts, and take videos and photos. But did you know it can do these 5 things?
Scan photos & documents
Turn your phone into a photo and document scanner by simply downloading a scanner app from your app store.
There are both free and paid apps available. One free app that I like for documents is CamScanner. But you can check the app store for your phone for other options.
PhotoScan by Google is an excellent program for scanning and organizing your photos as well.
Police & fire scanner
Speaking of scanners, you can do a whole different kind of scanning with your phone. You can listen to police and fire frequencies.
Scanner Radio is available for free in both the Apple App store and the Google Play Store. You can listen to local first responders and departments all over the country and world.
Measuring tape & level
Search Measure or Level in the app store for your device and you’ll get dozens of results.
These apps can use your camera to measure things both big and small.
A level app means that you’ll always be able to make sure that things are hanging straight.
I especially like Smart Tool Box which comes with a ruler, level, protractor, magnifier and more!
Audio recorder
Making an audio recording is super-simple. On your iPhone, look for the Voice Memos app and tap to open.
Then press the red record button to start recording.
For your Android phone, just go to the app store and search voice a voice recorder. Then tap install.
Pedometers
Your phone makes a great pedometer. Especially since you’re not likely to forget it.
Many phones come with built-in pedometer apps. But one of my favorite apps of this type is Pacer. This free app is available for both iPhone and Android.
It’s more than a pedometer, it also helps track your weight and set health goals.
That’s only a sampling of some of the cool things your phone can do. We’ll explore more in future articles.
Terrific functions, and glad to learn of each.
