Gmail won’t attach files

A reader is having an issue with Gmail:

“When I am composing an email(Google Chrome) if I click on “Attach Files” nothing happens. How do I fix this so I can attach files?”

Are you getting any errors? Such as one that says there’s an issue with your firewall?

If there’s no specific error, my first suggestion would be to attempt to clear the cache of Chrome. This is often a quick fix for issues.

Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete and this screen will pop up.  Tick the box next to Cached images and files and then click on Clear data.

If that doesn’t work, there’s a possibility that some settings might have gotten switched around in Chrome. Open Chrome Settings by clicking on the gear icon at the upper right of your inbox and choosing Settings from the drop-down menu.

Then scroll down to Advanced settings.

Under Reset and clean up, choose Restore settings to their original defaults.

Confirm that you want to restore the settings.

Let me know if this helps.  If not, try opening Gmail in another browser.
