Windows 10: How to share files

There are multiple ways to share a file using File Explorer on your Windows 10 PC.

One way is to select a file, then click the Share tab at the top of File Explorer.

You can choose to email files or folders. Individual files will be sent as attachments. Folders will be sent as links to downloads.

For individual files, you can select the Share icon and pick an app you’d like to use for sharing.

You can also share OneDrive files saved to your PC. Select the file or folder to share.

Right-click on the file or folder. Choose Share.

Enter the email address of the person you wish to share with.

You can also decide if the recipient can edit the file and set a password by clicking in the Anyone with the link can edit icon.

You can make the file read-only, set an expiration date for the file, and even set a password required for reading. Click Apply when you’re finished.
