I Paint Music

Have you ever heard of Synesthesia? I hadn’t until we discussed it in grad school. Synesthesia is a neurological phenomenon where one sense leads to a secondary sense experience. For example, this is a gallery of art created by Melissa McCracken who sees color when she hears music.

After checking out this offering by Bored Panda, I knew I had to share it with you. The artwork is really beautiful and I’ve found it makes me think about the songs each piece represents differently.

Navigation is straightforward. Just scroll down the page and look at the painting. Or if you prefer, you can click the first painting and then use the right arrow on the image to go to the next in the series.

You might just find yourself loading up YouTube to listen to the songs as you look at the paintings. There were a few I just absolutely had to do that with.

If you like McCrackin’s art work be sure to check out her gallery here at her homepage!
