Kid’s Health for Kids

This health site for kids is not only a great idea, it’s well put together. One of my favorite sections is “What to Do if You Don’t Like School”. I wish that I had access to it when my sister was going to school. It really picks apart the reasons why a child may not like going to school and what they can do about it.

On the side menu, you’ll see a lot of sections. Another favorite of mine is “Dealing with Feelings.” This section gives kids a lot of scenarios that they may be in and discusses how they may be feeling and why.

The other sections on this site are: Staying Healthy, Recipes, Everyday Illness and Injuries, My Body, Growing Up, Kid’s Talk (a Q&A section on a lot of different subjects), Watch Out, The Game Closet, Kid’s Health Problems, WORD! A Glossary of Medical Terms, Health Problems of Grownups, and En Espanol (allows you to access in Spanish).

People, Places & Things That Help Me: I left this section cause I wanted to talk about it a little more in depth. This section teaches children about People (Therapist, Doctors, Dentists, School Counselors), Places (Hospital, Emergency Room, Operating Room), and Things (Shots, Medicines, Casts, Glasses and Contacts, etc.) that they may have to experience at sometime in their childhood.

At the bottom of their main page is a link to a section on Hurricane Katrina. Adults may understand why this happened and can deal with it more practically. Even though most children may not have been personally involved in the Hurricane or its after-effects, they may be scared. Will the next thunderstorm be a hurricane? This explains about hurricanes and other natural disasters, why they happen, and what kids can do to be safe. Understanding weather better will help children not be afraid. They may also be worried about the kids who were involved, and this section deals with that as well.

Kids Health Daily Brain Buzz asks question, and clicking on the question tells you the answer. It’s a little fun trivia thrown into this site. The Game Closet has a bunch of useful games your kids can play and learn stuff.

I think this is a great site I can’t wait to send it to my mom and see if she can use it at school!
