Bookcrossing

If you love to read (and you know I do), I think you will love this site. Bookcrossing is a very interesting twist on a book club. How does it work? Well, the first thing I did was register/join bookcrossing. This is free, fast and easy to do. Just click the Join Bookcrossing link on the side menu, fill out the requested information and click the Join Now button.

The idea is to leave a book out in the open somewhere where someone can find it, read it and then pass it on. To keep track of it all, the books get registered on the Web site and when the person finds it, they can look it up. Are you ready to release some books or catch some?

The side menu has a lot of useful links. For instance, once you are registered with the site, you can find your own links under Member links. You can update your profile, check out your bookshelf, register and release a book and much, much more.

The other sections are: Books, People, Go Hunting, Community and the Buzz.

Books – Here you can find out what books are most traveled, most registered, recently released, recently caught, browse books and even search books.

People – Here you can browse member profiles, see who has the most releases, book registrations and even do member referrals. You can also check out member pictures and chat on the forum.

Go Hunting – Would you rather hunt a book that has been released? If so, come to this section and pick the country you live in and see what’s out in the wild near you. I chose USA, then my state of Ohio (there are over 2,000 books loose in Ohio), then my city of Toledo. I got to look through the recent releases in my area. Pretty neat, huh?!

Community – Here you can access the forums, sign up for the E-mail Discussion List and even learn how to Start an Official Crossing Zone.

The Buzz – I love this section. Here you can see the 100 most recent Tell-A-Friend messages (the user consented that they could be used). What better way is there to find out if you might like a site than to read these candid testimonials?

This site has captured people’s attention from all over the world, so are you ready to let your favorite books go wild? I know I am!
