This is a very interesting way to view current affairs. Check out Maps in the News brought to you by Utopia. Whether you want see the maps of the War in Iraq, the Israel-Lebanon War or just the Gas Prices in the U.S., you can access those maps here. Just look toward the middle of the page.
I was really interested to see their map of the Gas Prices in the U.S. It made me giggle, because the link takes you right to Gas Buddy and you already know I love that!
With the maps in the news (for instance, the maps of the war torn countries), you can click on the link of the one you want to view and it takes you to a huge (and I mean huge) listing of maps from that area. That covers not only the geography of the area, but also places like airfields, the routes prisoners took and much more. You really have to delve into this site, because there are just so many options to go through.
Underneath those main few maps in the news, there is a More Maps link underneath them and just above the RSS feed link. There you can access the whole collection of maps, including links to maps on other sites.
And if you scroll down the page, still looking at the middle section, you can check out the other map exhibitions. For example, I looked at the map exhibition for Ireland.
I found that I get a summary of the country’s history to read, as well as, several maps to look at. The maps are: Country Maps, City Maps and Historical Maps. Each one has several options for viewing them too.
Pretty interesting, huh?!
