I was somewhat hesitant when I went to write up this Web site. Not because of the content, but because I was unsure where to begin. So, I’ll start off simply. This is writer, Kent Nerburn’s site. This is where he shares his thoughts on the world around him. I confess, I have never read a book of his, but I will now after having read his thoughts. I like the way he turns a phrase around without being pretentious.
What content is on the site? Well, you can find out about the books he’s written and has had published and you can read his essays. I guess you would call them essays on life and the world around him.
You will find the most recent entries in the middle of the page and you can find an extensive archive on the right side menu, about half way down the page. The archive spans from June 2003 to September 2006.
On the left side menu, if you scroll down, you will find the Categories area. This is where you can find Announcements, In the Media, Interview, Observation, Reader Comments, Readings from his Writings and much, much more.
I was reading his most recent entry “A Writer’s Conference and a Burger King” from September 23rd. I was amazed at how he captures the essence of a lot of writers by recognizing his social limitations. He also captures the being of a fan very well too, the fear of approaching your favorite star (be it a writer, musician, etc.) and how if it were a different situation, they could just go out for coffee.
To learn more about Kent Nerburn, click the About button on the white bar just under the title image. The About section can also be found on the left side menu. I enjoyed reading this section and I found out exactly why he made a site just so he could share his thoughts with his readers. You can get the book jacket style biography here as well.
Well, I’m off to the library to check out some of his books. Enjoy!
