Meebo

Meet Meebo! What is Meebo? It’s good of you to ask! Meebo is a Web based instant messenger that lets you use your instant messaging service from any computer that has an Internet connection and a browser. It is compatible with Internet Explorer, Firefox and Camino. For a full list of browsers it has been tested on, check out the Help section and choose the Compatible Browsers link.

The messengers you can sign into are: MSN Instant Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo! Instant Messenger and Jabber/GTalk.

So, how does it work? Well, it’s really simple to use. Just put your login information in the fields provided for the messenger you want to log in to and click Sign In. You’ll notice then that a little window comes up and tells you they are encrypting your password and then you will be signed in. You’re then ready to use your instant messenger just like normal! The only difference is that it is in a Web browser.

You can even sign into multiple instant messengers at the same time. Just fill in all the login fields and click Sign In and you can do all your messaging at once. You can also sign in as invisible by checking the box for it near the Sign In button.

Now, if you join Meebo (don’t worry, it’s free!), you can save your message logs, preferences and more. Just click the “Join Meebo Today” link at the top of the page. They require you to choose a user name and provide your name and e-mail address, as well as, a password. (Your name and e-mail address will not be shared.) Then it will make sure your user name isn’t taken and you can then add your accounts. Once you’ve added your accounts, you can chat to your heart’s content. When you log off and come back the next time, you just log in with your Meebo ID and it will automatically log you into all the instant messengers you set up. Pretty cool, huh?!

I’ve fallen in love with Meebo and I bet you will too!
