Welcome to Bagheera, a site devoted to endangered species. Endangered species have always had a spot in my heart ever since I was a little girl when my dad first started teaching me about them. Both now and then, I have found the idea of animals disappearing off the face of the Earth forever incredibly sad.
This site is easy to navigate with four main sections: In the Wild, In the Class, Resources and News. There is also a featured section in the middle of the page where you will find: Tigers in Crisis, Imagine Animals, Endangered TV and Rock Earth.
In the Wild – This section is where you can get information about the animals that are rapidly vanishing from the Earth. Select an animal from the drop down list to learn about it.
In the Class – Here you will find teaching resources to teach about endangered animals in the classroom. The information ranges from classroom activities to suggested reading and there is even a glossary of terms.
Resources – This is a listing of Endangered Animals resources. It has links to other sites where you can learn more about the species that are endangered and even check out the 2006 List of Endangered Species.
News – Here you can check out news articles from all over the world that relate to endangered species.
The Features section takes you to featured sites. It opens in another window so that you don’t lose the Bagheera site.
Tigers in Crisis – This site is devoted to endangered tigers. I learned a lot about tigers, as well as, their critical endangerment here. Did you know there are five different types of tigers? Or that there are three types of tigers have already been driven into extinction? I sure didn’t have a clue.
Imagine Animals – Here you can not only learn about endangered animals, you can see images of them as well. Just choose an endangered animal from the drop down box and you’ll learn all about it. You’ll find pictures along the top of the page for that animal’s section as well.
Endangered Earth – This looks like the main page for all of these other pages. Oops! Well, that’s okay. There is still a lot of cool stuff here. You can read the About section and learn why these sites exist. You can also check out the Tour section and see endangered animals by country. The Journal section lets you read the journals for the different sites too.
I found this site to be an eye opening and educational experience. At the very least, I learned a lot about animals that I never knew. Check it out!
