Well, the last audio book site I showed you, called Learn Out Loud, really got me on an audio book kick, so I was thrilled when a reader submitted this one to me. Why, you ask? Well, not only can you listen to books here, but you can volunteer to read them as well. Pretty neat, huh?!
The site is divided into sections: Listen, Read, Latest News and New Releases. Directly next to the Read section, you will find some very important links that you should be aware of. They are: More Info, FAQ, Guides for Listeners & Volunteers and Contact.
More Info not only tells you more about the site’s purpose, but it shows you how it works and you also get a snippet about its creator.
FAQ and Guides for Listeners & Volunteers are where you can get your questions answered or learn all about the site in a Wiki format. These are all very useful sections to have on hand, just in case you run into something puzzling.
Listen – Click the LibriVox Catalog button and it will whisk you away to a search engine that allows you to search by title and author. Or, you can choose to browse the Entire LibriVox Catalog. The catalog is listed in alphabetical order and there are 522 entries.
Read – To volunteer to read books, all you need is a microphone, some free voice recording software and a book. Click Volunteer to learn how to record and submit your reading of the book of your choice.
Latest News – Here you can find the latest news about the site. From being able to listen to LibriVox on your Playstation (that was a little shocking) to March Madness or even A New Assignment, they were all in the latest news when I visited!
New Releases – Here you can find a listing of the most recent additions to the site. It will also tell you how long ago it was added and you get the title, the author and the post date.
So, whether you’re ready to listen to your favorite book (I can’t wait to listen to some of the “Aesop’s Fables”) or you want to volunteer to read, you are sure to find something fun and for yourself here!
