No matter how easy my parents made it look, I know from my friends who have children that parenting isn’t easy. Well, now there is a Web site that will help you connect with other parents like yourselves.
The Mommies Network is dedicated to providing parents a community where they can find both friendship and support. In just two years, they have helped create 31 communities and this year, they started a “dads only” community to help support all the dads out there too.
All of this is free too. Pretty cool, huh?! To start, you can click Find a Group. This will take you to a map where you can see if there is a community in your area. The states that are colored green have active Mommies Network Communities.
If your state is gray, there haven’t been any communities started there, which just simply means, you could start one! To start your own community, click the Start a Group link. This section will fill you in on what it takes to start a community, so you can see if it’s really for you.
If it is, just click the Start Here link at the bottom of the page to see what some of the duties and responsibilities are. After reading the duties, if you are still ready to start a group, download the site administer application.
To learn more about the people who started and run this organization, check out the About Us section. There you can get a small biography on them.
I think support is a necessary part of parenting. Whether it’s getting through the baby crying at 4 a.m. every night or dealing with the terrible twos, advice from someone who’s been through those situations is priceless. The same goes for the sense of camaraderie you can find with people who are going through the same experiences as you are. Happy mommying!
