I know it’s an unusual name for a Web site, but you are going to love what you find at Shorpy! It is “The 100 Year Photo Blog” and it gets its name from a boy who lived around the era of when these photos were taken. You’ll see photos from the dawn of time, all the way to the 1940s. That’s a pretty interesting concept, right?!
One thing I really enjoyed about this site was the information they have about Shorpy. To learn more about him, visit his page with the Shorpy’s Page link on the homepage. From there, you can even go to a more detailed site about him if you’d like.
This site is very easy to navigate, since it is in a blog style. Just scroll down the page, look at the pictures and if you like one, just click the View Full Image button to see it in a larger size. You can get more information (if there is any) about a certain picture this way too. If you don’t see any you want to enlarge, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Next.
Although you do have the option of scrolling to the bottom and clicking the Last link, you can also start at the very beginning of the blog. There are 82 pages in all. It is amazing to see not only the amazing buildings that are showcased through the photography, but to see the people as well. There are baseball players, working children, women in many different roles of life, from work to play and so much more.
Do you have vintage photos you’d like to share? Well, you can. Click the Learn More link on the side menu near the top of the page to get all the details!
I think you will really enjoy this stroll through the past. I know I did!
