Okay, I have to admit, I’ve gotten addicted to this housing show on HGTV called “My House is Worth What”? So, when I saw this site, it got my attention immediately. You’ll find the navigation links in the cream colored Navigation box. The sections are: Pricing and Inventory and Affordability.
Pricing and Inventory – Here you can see a listing of Home Asking Prices from all over the country, as well as, the inventory number for that area.
The listing is divided into columns. They are: City/Metro Area, Inventory, Inventory 1w Change, 50th Percentile (Median) and Median 1w Change.
The City/Metro Area lists where the home is located. If you click on the link (the name of the city), you will be taken to a page with more specific information for that area. For example, I clicked the Albuquerque, New Mexico link and found weekly data, monthly averages and an inventory graph chart.
Inventory shows how many homes are in the market for a certain area.
Inventory 1w Change is the total percentage of how the inventory changed over one week, either up or down.
50th Percentile (Median) shows the homes listing prices for that area.
Median 1w Change shows the percentage of how the prices changed over one week’s time.
Affordability – This section shows you the most affordable places to own/rent a home. The data provided here is currently from the 4th Quarter of 2006. This section compares income to price, price to rent, rent to mortgage and the percent of income.
It is arranged in columns again, with the location first followed by the percent of income, mortgage to rent, price to income and price to rent. All of these terms are well defined on the page too, which makes it a lot easier to understand.
The other section of HT Price and Inv v1 points you back to the Pricing and Inventory section. I found that a little confusing, but it’s worth a look see.
This site gives you an at a glance view of the housing market all over the country. It’s so cool!
