Exact Picture Size

Exact Picture Size

Have you ever needed a graphic to be a specific size?

If so, did you spend a lot of time dragging the handles on the sides and corners of the picture, trying to “eyeball” the correct size?

Frustrating, isn’t it?

I’d bet that at some point, you were wishing for an easy place to just enter the size you need and be done with it. Am I right?

Good wish! And I’m happy to oblige.

It only takes a couple of easy steps and you’ll have exactly what you need!

After the picture you want to resize is in the file, right click on it and choose Format Picture from the menu.

In the Format Picture window, choose the Size tab.

At the top, you’ll find the Size and rotate section. It’s here that you’ll see a field for the width and height.

You can enter your required dimensions here. But wait, there’s a little something more you need to know about.

In the bottom half of the tab, you may see that the “Lock aspect ratio” option is checked. This keeps the width and height settings linked to each other so that the picture cannot be stretched in any one direction, causing distortion.

So, you may have trouble getting your exact sizes set with this option in play.

Luckily, you can always uncheck that option. By doing that, the width and height measurements will become independent of each other and they can be set to fit your needs.

Everything set as you need it now?

Good. Click OK and you’ll exit back to your file with the picture just as you ordered!
