Family Search

Family Search

Welcome to an amazing genealogy tool! To be able to use all the features on this Web site, you will want to register. (Don’t worry, it’s free!) Just click the Register link at the top of the page and then fill out the form.

I love the way the main page is set up, because you can find just about everything you need on the site there. You can find where to register, you can find out how to use the site, you can use the search engine to find your ancestors and even search specific records, all from the same spot!

Navigation is really easy too. On the right hand side of the page, you’ll find just about all the links you need to get around the site divided between three sections. You can also use the tabs at the top of the page to navigate around the site. The tabs are Home, Search, Share and Library. Underneath the tabs, there’s a band of blue where you will find the links for each tab. You’ll notice how they change when you switch to a different tab.

The search engine has you put in all the information you have on your deceased ancestor, such as their name, location, age or life event. Life events are birth/christening, marriage, death/burial and others. You can even set a year or range of years for the life event, making it easier for you to narrow it down. Pretty neat, huh?!

One of the best reasons for registering is that you can save all the information you find right here on the site. That way, all your research is all in one place. You can create an online family tree and save it here as well.

I think this is another excellent resource to add to any genealogy research that you’re doing. I know I can’t wait to get started and see what I can learn about my ancestors. Enjoy!
