Struck By Lightning

When considering storm safety, I have never really heard anything specific about lightning safety. Well, that is going to change for me now, because I have found an entire Web site devoted to lightning safety. I stumbled across it while reading about the possibility of iPods attracting lightning. (You can find the entry about iPods in the Strike Database under the Resource heading).

Navigation is found along the top of the page. The sections we are going to focus on are: Resources and Safety. On the main page, you’ll find the latest news, Strike Blog and Event Calendar.

Resources – When you scroll over this category, a menu will appear with the topics: Strike Database, Lightning Video, Lightning Images, Severe Weather and Educational Tools.

The Strike Database keeps a record of lightning that strikes people, along with details of when and how, as well as, what the person was doing at the time. Lightning Video and Images are sections that are devoted to bringing you lightning strikes captured on film. Severe Weather brings up a side menu that leads you to places to check out the severe weather happening around you. In Educational Tools, you’ll find a quiz about what’s safe and what’s not, a lightning safety game and much more.

Safety – This menu takes you to links for different sites on safety issues for sports, aviation and marine, as well as, medical and survivor information.

This site will help you learn how to be safe when it comes to lightning. It also has an amazing database of lightning strikes and tools to help your kids stay safe too. Check it out!
