The Task Pane is Being a Pain
If you’re using a newer version of MS Office and you find yourself disliking the Task Pane that automatically appears on the right side of your screen every time you open a program, I’ve got just what you’re looking for!
One way to disable the Task Pane is to uncheck the “Show at startup” option at the bottom.

Another way is to use the Tools menu, Options choice, View tab.

Uncheck the “Startup Task Pane” option and then click the OK button.
That’s it.
One box to uncheck and the “pane” is gone!
