Snow White

Snow White

I have always been a huge fairytale fan, so when I found this Web site and saw the way it delves into the story of Snow White, I was very pleased. Not only do you get to learn about this fairytale, but it teaches you how to take other fairytales and dissect them the same way!

Navigation is extremely easy. You’ll find all the links in the center of the page. The sections are:

Introduction – This section explains why the Web site exists, what it hopes to teach and it even helps you understand more about how the author of the site thinks about this topic.

The Teaching of Snow White – This section offers helpful tools to teachers who want to teach Snow White to their students and it offers some assignments you could give to your class. Or, that you can do on your own time. I did them and I was really fascinated by what I found!

Snow White Text – Here you can read about the tale of Snow White. It is the 1898 Grimm’s Fairytales version. While reading, if you follow the links in the text, you can compare other stories as you read.

Snow White Illustrations – In this section, you can examine different illustrations that have graced the pages of Snow White books over time. The links to the images are near the bottom of the page, with two example images near the top of the page. You can click on the thumbnails to enlarge the images too.

Snow White Media – This section basically lists all the films, posters and various products that have a Snow White theme. At the very bottom of the page, you’ll see my favorite: the Lindt Chocolate Bar!

Context for the study of Snow White – I found this section interesting, because it has snippets from other papers and other writers’ thoughts on Snow White, fairytales and even the Brother’s Grimm.

Issues in the study of Snow White – This section takes snippets of the story and analyzes them by specific issues. Another very interesting read!

Criticism of Snow White – Here you can read about criticism the tale of Snow White has received, as well as, a few other fairytales.

I hope you enjoy this jaunt into fairytales. I most certainly did. I’m still amazed that there are so many versions of the same tale. It’s really quite fascinating. Check it out!
