Welcome to Kung Fu Science! The first decision you need to make when you come to this Web site is whether you want to use the HTML version or the Flash version. The site is amazing both ways!
Flash – Here you will find the Flash version of the site. If you don’t have a Flash player, there is a link to download one right there. Just click on the Flash Player button. I really don’t feel like you’re missing out on more than a few pretty graphics with the Flash version; although there are a couple of videos. What I did like about the Flash version though is they explain to you how to navigate the site.
HTML – If you chose to view the site in HTML, I recommend just clicking the Next link to continue navigating through the site. The site is like a story. If you follow it right through to the end, it all makes sense. If you skip around, it might feel out of context.
So, what is this site about? Well, it’s mostly about the study of physics in relation to Kung Fu. How are the principles of physics used to make Kung Fu successful? Well, this site will delve deeply into that question as Michelle (a physics student) learns how to successfully break three pine boards with her hand with just one strike.
In the introduction, you will learn the purpose of this site and the challenge that Chris issued Michelle. Next, you will move on to meeting Chris and Michelle. From there, you will know what Kung Fu is, how Newton’s Law applies to it and whether or not Michelle successfully studies the physics needed to break the boards.
This is a really fun site that combines science and martial arts. I think it would be a great way to get kids or teens involved in physics. Check it out!
