Earth Observatory

Earth Observatory

Welcome to the Earth Observatory! I fully recommend that you head straight to the About section. There you will find the Web site’s mission statement and copyright information. Basically, the site focuses on climate/environmental changes, as well as, scientific information on Earth. On the main page, you’ll find the featured sections and Breaking News. While I was there, the recent wild fires in California were covered.

Data & Images – Here you will find data and images on the atmosphere, oceans, land, life on Earth and heat and energy. Click the section you want to view and you’ll find more links for that category. You can also turn the glossary on or off.

Features – Here you will find the same categories as the data and image section, but you’ll get links to featured articles from the categories as well.

News – Here you will find the latest Earth Science News with featured sections like In the Headlines, Media Alerts and Field Research. You can even check out the latest Site Updates.

Reference – Here you will find reference material on the categories of atmosphere, oceans, land, life on Earth, heat and energy, remote sensing and pioneers in geoscience.

Missions – This section is devoted to space missions and future missions that are launched to observe the planet Earth.

Experiments – This section is very cool! Here you will find interactive experiments you can do on your own.

I am personally more interested in solving the mysteries of our own planet than seeking information about outer space. I mean, it’s not that I don’t find space missions fascinating, but there is just so much we still don’t know about our own planet. I hope you enjoy this in depth look at Earth!
