Twhirl

So, tell me, do you use Twitter, identi.ca, Friendfeed or Seesmic? If so, you just have to add this new alert program to your collection. It’s called Twhirl and it’s definitely worth checking out. It’s quick and it will save you loads of time. Let’s see what we’ve got, shall we?!

Installing Twhirl

1.) Head on over to http://www.twhirl.org.

2.) Click on Install Now.

3.) You’ll then be asked by Adobe AIR if you’d like to open or save the file. Pick Open, unless you’re saving Twhirl for later.

4.) Click Install.

5.) Then click Continue.

6.) You’ll be taken to a page where you can enter in your Twitter, identi.ca, Friendfeed and Seesmic account information. As an example, I’ll walk you through setting up Twitter. Here we go!

Setting Up Twitter

1.) Choose Twitter from the drop down menu in the bottom left hand corner.

2.) Enter in your Twitter username.

3.) Then click on the + (plus) button.

4.) Click on your username again and choose Connect from the menu on the right.

5.) Enter in your password and you’re done!

Using Twhirl

Using Twhirl is so easy, it’s ridiculous! Once you have your service installed (I’ll continue to use Twitter as an example), your tweets (friend messages) should show up. You’ve probably already read them, so in the little collection of buttons above the text entry box, click on the button with the tick on it. That will remove the star from the side of your tweets. (Note: I’ve grayed out my friends’ faces for privacy).

Now, if you’re ready to tweet, here’s what you do:

1.) Enter your tweet into the text box.

2.) Hit Enter.

Yep, it’s that easy! If you want to re-tweet someone, all you have to do is hover over your friend’s profile picture and hit the @ button on your keyboard. Then just type in your message. That’s it!

Now that you know all about it, give Twhirl a whirl!
