Moving through lengthy files without a specific search criteria for the Find feature can be a pain. We often find ourselves scrolling up and down but things are just moving too fast to really see what’s in your current view and it’s entirely possible to accidentally fly right by entire sections.
Some may be surprised to discover that there’s more to the vertical scroll bar then just grabbing the button and quickly dragging it here and there.
You can use the vertical scroll bar to make controlled movements through your file based on where you click.
Let’s take a look at the specifics:

That’s really all there is to it… a deliberately placed click on the vertical scroll bar will give you a lot more control in your document navigation… and who couldn’t use a little more control in their life?

With the “elevator button” located somewhere below the top, place your cursor arrow near the top of the scroll area, press and hold the Shift key and left click the mouse. The cursor jumps to the top.
Likewise, using shift + left click anywhere on scroll area will instantly advance the scroll button to that position.

WHY NOT JUST CLIK THE WHEEL ON THE MOUSE ANDCONTROL THE UP OR DN MOVEMENT OF THE LINES OR PAGE?
Holding down the Shift Key while clicking on the top or bottom of the scroll area will result in instantly scrolling all the way up or all the way down. A real time saver.

No, Don… – it seems this cool functionality is no longer with us in Office 2007 or later (just tested and failed on Outlook 2010).
