MS Word – PowerPoint: Cleaning Your Text

Over the years we’ve covered a variety of methods that can be used to clear formatting from text… that is to strip all formatting changes made to the text and restoring it to the default format.

Today’s trick for stripping the formatting from your text is in the form of a button so those of you who dislike all those key combinations then here’s one that you should love!

The button we’re going to use is on the Home tab of the Ribbon.

As you can see, it’s in the Font group and looks like an eraser.

To use it simply select the text to be cleaned of its formatting and click the Clear Formatting button.

Voila!

Your text back to its beginning form and for those of you who hate to remember key combinations then this is just the trick for you!

  1. I love your newsletter tips. I have a problem. When I create my resume’ and try to send it by email or copy and paste, the spaces change. When I show unprinted characters, I get a paragraph symbol but it can not be removed. When I readjust my text, it still changes. What can a novice like me do?
