I didn’t have this problem when I was using Microsoft Office 2003 scanning software. However, I’m now using Microsoft Office 2007, which doesn’t seem to contain the scanning software. Windows 8 includes a fantastic Scan & Fax utility, which supports the ability to scan in multiple pages into a single document if your scanner has an automatic document feeder. Place the documents or pages you want to scan into the feeder and open Windows Fax and Scan then click “New Scan.”
In the next window, select your scanner from the list and click “OK” – this will bring up the scan interface. Now, look for the Source field, click the drop down menu and select “Feeder”. If single sided, select “Scan one side” and if double sided select “Scan both sides”. Press the scan button.
The program will now scan in all of the sheets in your document feeder and produce a single file. You can then e-mail, save or print the document out using the commands on the top bar.

I place multiple scans into a new word document by using copy and paste. I scan the page and start a blank word document, then copy and paste the scan so I can email the material. Would work for printing also.
I tried this and it stored the two pages I scanned in two files. What did I do wrong? I would like the scan in one file.

This Doesn’t Work
You need to change the extension of the file. Under file type switch from JPeg to TIFF.

Yes, this made it work great, then I just printed to PDF to get it into Adobe format.
Yes! I have just successfully scanned a three page document into one file. To clarify what Duncan advised . . . select “Tif (TIFF image)” in File Type box and voila!
After you save it in TIF, where do you find it?
The default location is typically C:Users[your user name]DocumentsScanned Documents.
However, you can also define the scan location within Windows Fax and Scan by selecting Tools>Scan Routing> then check the Use a network folder, set the folder name/location, and save the settings.
I don’t have a feeder, only a flatbed source. Does this mean it’s impossible for me to create one document from many pages?
In business we use PDF. Anyone got a suggestion for that?
Used to be able to scan more than one page till I connected to the PC using 8.1. and it will not let me use the drivers that came originally with my scanner.
Cannot afford to buy Adobe just to stitch it together, it will cost way more than our machine we are using!
My only Source option is Flatbed, too. Did you ever figure out how to scan multiple pages into one document. This is so frustrating!!
This can be done with a flatbed scanner in HP scan and capture. and actually QUITE EASILY! Just found out after fighting many other ways!
can’t afford Adobe Pro? (me either); my office uses an application called Cute PDF Creator. it is a couple extra steps converting the .TIF to .PDF but it works.
I highlighted the scanned “tiff” file and then just “cut & paste” the file into a blank word doc. Finished it off by saving the file as “pdf” extension.
