Imagine that you get up in the morning, start your computer and nothing happens. Your trusty laptop has died during the night and taken the past five years’ worth of your family photographs with it. Most cell phone manufacturers have instructions for transferring photos and videos in the customer support section of their websites.
Once you have backed up your photos, be extra-careful with the drive you’ve stored the photos on. Consider putting it in a fire safe with the rest of your important documents or sticking it in a safe deposit box. If you want to be extra-cautious, make a physical copy and store additional copies of your photos in a cloud.
When it comes to your family photos and videos, better to be safe than sorry.
Happened to me. Had copies on three physically separate drives. two one one computer and one on my wifes. all three drives died on the same day. have the computers connected to a elarge UPS and have all the cables through a surge protector. Go Figure. wished I had copied them to DVD’s as well now.
