Question: My taskbar has gone from the bottom of the screen and is now in the vertical position on the right-hand side of the screen. The icons are in a block near the bottom and the Windows, Chrome and Firefox icons are at the top. How do I get them back to the original place, please?
Answer: I finally figured this one out after losing my taskbar several times and it’s a simple solution. Right-click on your taskbar. You should get this window.

Select “Properties” and you’ll get the next window.

For “Taskbar location,” select “bottom.” Once you have it back where you want it, right-click on the taskbar again. Select “Lock the taskbar” to to keep it from moving around again.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for yet another good tip.
In XP ‘position of taskbar’ option is not there. In fact there is a different pane in ‘properties’ with no provision for changing taskbar position.
excellent tip for those unaware, thanks
Like Dennis stated, I have XP SP3 and the location option is not there.
I have been trying to get it back to the bottom of the screen for a month with no luck. I can’t even tell you how it got moved!
I would really like the full width of my screen back.
Thanks.
In my case, you simply click and hold on the the taskbar and move it back to the place you wanted there in the first place.. Why be complicated???
perfect, thanks Maurice;
