Why Can’t I Use Java In Firefox?

Question: Why can I not play certain games in Firefox? It tells me to download Java, which I have done. I keep getting this message. – Bob

Answer – Firefox  disables the Java plug-in for the browser due to security issues with Java. But if you still wish to use Java to play games, here’s how to do it. Click the “Firefox” symbol in the upper left of your Firefox browser.

Click Add-ons. The symbol looks like a puzzle piece. You will see a list of plug-ins and add-ons. Notice below that there is a security warning next to Java.

Your Java is probably disabled. Click enable to turn it back on.

With the security issues experienced by Java, it’s a good idea to make sure you stay current with any security updates. You can learn more about setting up Java updates here.

Hope this works for you.

  1. Sorry…. when I clicked on the Home symbol Yahoo email page came up.
I do use the Firefox browser.

  2. With Firefox open, click on the orange Firefox button at the upper left of your screen. In the screen that pops up, on the right side you will see the puzzle piece icon and “plug-ins.” Click there and continue on as shown above.

  3. Oops the label on the puzzle piece actually reads “add ons,” and that is what you’re looking for.
