I know it might not seem like it from my general tone when I write cool sites, but I’m naturally a rather melancholy person. I tend to have very high highs, but my flatline is pretty melancholy. I’m not saying I’m always a gloomy gus, but I can have long periods of what I like to call meh’ness.

To work on improving my overall attitude and to consciously think about being grateful for the things I have in life (which are plenty) I joined this site called Happify.

It’s free, and dedicated to helping people improve their mood by using the latest innovations in the science of happiness into activities and games that will help people lead a more fulfilling life. I mean that’s what we’re all searching for, right? To be deeply, passionately connected to our friends  and family and really satisfied with our lives. Well, it’s certainly what I’m aiming for!

My roommate actually showed the site to me, because she had been using it for about a week and really liked it. She likes to use it help her stay positive and unwind from her stressful job. At first I thought it was going to be a little hokey, but I was pleasantly surprised that not only was it fun, but that I was thinking deeply about what I wanted out of live and about who and what was important to me.

So with that said, to get started all you have to do is click the Request an Invite button. And follow the information they give you to get signed up, because the site is in beta right now.

Then after you’re all signed up, log n and take the quiz they give you. The quiz helps determine what happiness track you should be on. This will fine-tune the tasks you’re given and make them the most meaningful to you and what is going on in your life.

Then you’ll start your happiness track (if at anytime you don’t like what you’ve been assigned you can switch tracks) with two or three activities, as you do them you’ll earn points and unlock more activities. And the really cool thing is each track is extended over different goals so you’ll be reinforcing what you learned the last time and learning new things about yourself at the same time.

Last but not least, check out the About section to learn about how it works specifically and the science behind it. It’s really cool!
