DropShots.com: Share And Store Your Photos Online For Free

When one thinks of a website to store and share photos online, Flikr is the first option that comes to mind. Don’t know about you, but even though the new Flikr looks and feels a lot better than the old version, I still don’t like it much. It doesn’t seem to be very intuitive and organizing photos is not as easy as it can be. Well, DropShots is a great free Flikr alternative that you should consider.

DropShots.com makes it easy to upload, organize, and share your photos with friends, family, and the world. There are two types of accounts, a free one and a paid one that costs either $49.95 per year or $99.95 for a lifetime. But the free account is good enough: you can store up to 500 photos and there will be an occasional ad. Don’t know about you, but I can live with that. So, let’s have a closer look at DropShots features.

When you go to the website, you will see the old version of the site and you’ll be offered to try the new look. Do that because it’s so much nicer than the old one and it’s easier to navigate, too. So, switch to the new look and sign up.

When you log into your DropShots account, you can upload your photos and organize them into albums. You can either use a browser uploader or download a free software tool to upload photos in bulk right from your PC or Mac. It’s also possible to import your photos from Instagram or upload them using DropShots for iOS, a free app you can get on the App Store.

By default your photos are organized by date. You can create albums and move photos to them. To do that, simply hover your mouse over a photo, click on the pencil icon, select “Move to album”, and choose the album where you want to move the photo.

You can add titles and descriptions to your photos by clicking on pencil icons, add some photos as favorites by clicking on the star sign, and invite your friends and family who also use DropShots to comment on your pictures.

To view your photos as a slideshow, simply click on one of them. You will then see the larger image and be able to scroll through your photos. In addition to that, you’ll have access to all sorts of options.

There are quite a few things DropShots allows you to do with your photos. Just hover your mouse over a photo in full view and you’ll see all the options. You can order prints, edit your photo using a simple editor, share the photo via the Web or email, rotate it, or download it to your computer.

As you can see, DropShots is a really cool Flikr alternative that is worth checking out.

  1. None of these features work with an IPad Pro. No ability to create albums or old additional hoots to an existing one. The desktop loader will not work.
