In part 1 , Part 2 , Part 3 and Part 4 of this series we learned all about e-mail encryption and how to download, install a program called GpG4win and create a security key and also how to send encrypted messages. If you haven’t read the previous articles, check them out now.
In this final part, we will learn out to decrypt an encrypted message that’s been sent to you.
As we mentioned before, in order for a person to send you an encrypted message, he needs first to have your public key certificate because he will use it to encrypt the message.
Remember: You are using your private key certificate to decrypt a message sent to you.
When receiving an encrypted message follow these steps to decrypt it:
- Open the email using MS Outlook,
- Go to the GpgOL tab in message Ribbon and click the “Decrypt” button.
3. A new dialog appears asking you to enter your passphrase in order to decrypt the message, enter it and click “Ok” to see you email decrypted.
4. If everything was “OK” and you entered the passphrase correctly, a success message will appears along with your email decrypted as follows:
In this tutorial I showed you how to install and use the main function of GpG4win encryption. In order to master this tool you need to practice it, so do this with your friends and begin sending and receiving encrypted emails!
