Mobogenie– Useful Application Or Malware Threat?

Mobogenie is a rather controversial free software that some people feel is really a form of malware.

Versions are available for Windows and Android, therefore the application is suitable for both a Windows running computer and devices using Google’s  Android operating system, like a phone or a tablet.

There are many pros and cons to this software, let’s take a look at what it can do.

Mobogenie,  lets you connect your tablet or phone to your PC.

Using its user-friendly interface, you may easily transfer files from a device to another. Installed on your PC, Mobogenie automatically detects the connected Android device and becomes a file manager for your pictures, movies or music. Also, it provides tools for a complete backup of your saved data.

You can download games and apps from Google Play right on your hard drive and transfer them to your phone or tablet.

Contacts manager. If you have hundreds of contacts in your phone will be pretty hard to manage them, right? This application allows you to add, edit and delete phone contacts, fast and easy.

Messages manager. Using Mobogenie, you may access the messages from the connected Android device right from your computer. Also, you have the option of sending messages to more than one contact at the same time.

Mobogenie is quite useful software in many ways.  But there have been issues with malware being distributed through Mobogenie. Pay attention, too! Mobogenie is one of those programs that sometimes piggybacks on other downloads. It means that you may still find it on your computer, even if you didn’t specifically download and install it.

Be careful when you install other apps. Make sure you use a custom installation, don’t just hit “next –> next”. Otherwise, you might find Mobogenie or other kind of software present on your hard drive and giving you headaches.

Although the application itself can’t be called a virus, it acts like one. It will collect and use your personal data without your permission and, if you have an antivirus program, you will get tens of messages targeting Mobogenie as a virus. The bottom line is that while Mobogenie does offer some useful functions, you can do the same thing with other apps and services with better reputations.
