I’ve been buried in research for possible Ph.D programs, and one of the categories I’m investigating is the crime rate of the area. In the course of my research I ran across this really handy site, and I thought I’d share it with you!

Crime Reports is a crime mapping site, which will immediately be obvious when you load the site because it’s a giant map! When you arrive it will be set to default to the US  & Canada map, but you can switch it to the UK map by clicking the Switch to UK link at the top of the page.

To get started you can either use your mouse to zoom in and out of the map, to be able to see all the locations possible, or you can type an address into the search field and click the magnifying glass button.

This will bring up the location and populate it with bullets on the map for where a crime has been committed.

Looking for certain types of crime? Or incidents? Well, you can customize the search field by clicking the Advanced Search tab. This will bring up another window where you can check or uncheck options to refine your search by. You can also search for specific date range from the advanced search options.

This is a great way to do extra research about areas that you live in or are thinking of moving to. Check it out for yourself today!
