How To Put Photos On Facebook

Could you please recommend a source for this 72-year-old to easily understand how to put pictures on Facebook.

Caroline, I highly recommend WorldStart!  So let’s get this done. If you are adding photos from a browser using a desktop or laptop computer, there are two ways to post.

You can post your photo as part of a status update. Just click Add Photos/Video

addphotosvideo

You’ll have options to Upload Photos/Videos or Create Photo Album.

If you only want to upload one or two photos, choose Upload Photos/Video.  A file window will open and you can choose the photos you wish to upload.

You can select one photo.

Or hold down the Ctrl key and select multiple shots. Click open when you are finished with your selections.

You’ll see your images displayed in the status box.

You can now type in a description of what you are posting.  Please do this. Photos posted without any caption are one of my pet peeves.

Now you can hit Post and the photos to your timeline.

There are other adjustments you can make to the post if you want to take the time.

One adjustment you can make to the post is to hit the drop-down menu next to the Post button.  The default setting for posts is usually that only your friends can see them. If you wanted to make your photos available to everyone, you could  choose the Public option.

Choose More options and you can make custom settings for who views the images.

This is certainly not necessary for every post, but there may be a time when you want to use these options.

You can also post by choosing the Create Photo Album option. I prefer this one. Photos posted as part of a status go into a Timeline photos folder that can get pretty crowded. Making albums helps keep things organized.

createphotoalbum

Select the items you want in the album just as before. Upload as many photos as you want, but if you do a hundred photos, it’s going to take some time to post.  When the photos have uploaded you’ll see this Window:

At the top right you can title the album and then say a little about it.

On the right, you can also choose to add a date and a location to the photos.

datelocation

If you like, you can also say something about each photo. You don’t have to do this, but it can be handy later on when people are viewing them.

captionphotos

Select the little guy with the plus sign to the bottom left of the photo to “tag” Facebook friends.  Click on the face of the person you wish to tag and a square will appear.

Click the square and start typing in a name.

As you type, Facebook will give you suggestions. Click on the name of the person you wish to tag.

You can also set a time that the photo was taken or a location.

When you’re finished, choose Post Photos. You can always go back to an album later and choose the Add More Photos button to add more pictures later.

I hope this gets you started. I’ll cover how to add photos from mobile devices in another article.
