Roger from Salem asks:
On your tip dated 12/11/14, you showed how to archive Facebook. Question is; how do you open your download ? with what program can you use to view the archive?
Thank you 🙂
If you choose to archive your FB information, all of your photos, videos and messages will be downloaded to your computer. It’s a great way to make sure you have copies of videos and photos that might only be stored on Facebook. I explained how to archive in the previous article, this is how to open the material you’ve downloaded.
Your FB information will download in a zip file. You can then move that information to the location of your choice.

Here I’ve created a file called Facebook Archive.

Your videos are in the form of MP4 files that you can play with the video player of your choice.

I chose VLC Player and my videos played perfectly fine.Â

The photos will all be saved as jpgs.

Those can be opened with any program you use to view images.

Statuses, events and messages will be saved as HTML documents.

Those can be opened with your browser of choice.
Backing up is a great idea. It’s a simple process and the files are saved in easy-to-use formats.
