I read in Yahoo this week where after a year of the free Windows 10 you  have to pay a subscription fee to  Microsoft.

Gladie, users with Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 installed on their computers can upgrade to Windows 10 for free for a year after the operating system is officially released. Those upgrades are good according to Microsoft for “the life of the device.”  Users who wait longer than a year will have to pay to install the operating system. The reason for the one year time limit is to encourage people to hurry up and adopt the OS, so that as many Windows devices as possible will be running the same operating system. That makes patching bugs and developing new products much easier for Microsoft.

There’s no word yet on whether those who wait longer to install Windows 10 will have to pay a large lump sum to upgrade or if Windows might become a subscription service. Most people believe Windows will become like the Mac OS, included in the price of your device and free to upgrade as the OS requires updates. But there’s no official word on how it will work.
