One of the neat features of the new Spartan browser from Microsoft is that you can write or type right on the screen to make notes or highlights that you can save. I first introduced you to the basics of the Spartan browser in an article earlier this week. Click here, if you haven’t had the chance to read it yet. Right now, it’s only available as part of the Windows 10 Technical Preview.
To use the drawing feature, open up a webpage and click on the little icon that looks like a paper and pencil at the top left of the screen.
A tool bar will appear at the top of the screen.
On the left you’ll see a menu with options for highlighting, drawing, typing and a screen-snipping tool.
You can draw with your mouse or with a stylus if you have a touch-screen device. Select the draw tip and you can choose a line size and a color.
Here I’ve circled an item on the web page in red.
Choose the highlighting function and you can select a tip and the color of the translucent highlight.
Here, I’ve highlight some text on a blog page.
The erase function allows you to clear all. Selecting the text allow you to input text by typing or writing with a stylus pen.
The Snipping Tool allow you to select just part of the screen for a screenshot.
Click the save icon…
…and you can add the page to Favorites or Reading List.
Or choose the Share icon to share it with others.
Now, this is still a work in progress, so the Spartan browser may change before you use it at home. I’ll keep you up-to-date on the news about Windows 10 as it happens.
