Google is known for keep a whole lot of data about its users. There are simple steps you can take to manage what information Google stores about you. To manage this, you’ll need to be logged into a Google account. Click here to go to your account history.
Here you can decide what information Google will retain.

Your first option is for searches and browsing activity. Click the little blue button to pause it. If you use Google Now, you’ll still get cards based on Chrome activity. If you don’t want these, you’ll have to switch that off separately by clicking on Turn these cards off.

A pop-up window will open. You’ll need to confirm that you really want to pause.

The button will turn gray and say “paused.”

You can also pause Location History. Google creates a map of where you go with your logged in devices in order to help you with map searches and things like commuter routes. There’s also an option to pause information like contacts, calendars and app data across all of your devices on Google.

There’s also an option to pause your video search history on YouTube.

When you take this step, you may notice that searches aren’t turning up results that are relevant to you. That’s because Google does use your date to try to tailor the search experience to your needs. If you search “Gino’s Pizza,” Google uses the location data to find a restaurant with that name near where you’re located and not one halfway across the country.
