Sometimes dealing with you e-mail inbox can be frustrating. Just ask George, who wrote: I opened my email the other day and was !@#$%^&*()_Enraged to find it “Messed up”!!!!! Sorry about the!@#$%^&*(), but I am so mad I can barely express my anger. Some one changed my email over night to Preview? I can’t find any way to switch it back!!!!!!!!!!! My email used to be So&so@email address all in one area, Now it’s So&so@emailaddress ll Message pane. This is a royal pain in the**** . I am extremely enraged, annoyed, and mad as **** about this change and the fact I can’t find any way to change back to what I had and liked. What I had was easier to read and delete unwanted messages. I am 71 years old and only a moderately competent computer user. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Before I get started on a solution here, I’d like to point out at George left off some pretty crucial information that I would need to help him out. He didn’t tell me what e-mail service he was using or how he interacts with it. The solution for a particular e-mail services online inbox might be very different than someone using an e-mail client like Outlook or Live Mail. I was able to contact George and find out that he is using Yahoo! Mail in a browser.
George, I have no issue with your use of grawlixes. (That’s when you substitute symbols for curse words. I just learned that word the other day, so I’m using it whenever possible.) I don’t think anyone got into your e-mail account just to change your preview settings. (unless you live with someone pretty darn tricky that knows this would get your goat.) It could be as simple as accidentally hitting the V key which toggles the preview pane on and off in the Yahoo Inbox. Let’s take a look at how to fix it.
Open up that Yahoo Inbox and click the settings gear in the upper right corner. Choose Settings from the drop-down menu.
Under Viewing email, choose None next to Preview pane.
Or, even simpler, just hit that V key and your inbox will toggle through no preview, bottom preview and side preview.
